DK Metcalf uses the Theragun PRO massage gun, the PowerDot 2.0 Duo muscle stimulator, and the RecoveryAir PRO pneumatic compression system to enhance his recovery and help him get through a grueling season.
Recovery has been integral for the wide receiver since he walked into the Seattle Seahawks locker room for the first time. Inspired by Duane Brown’s simple advice to take care of his body if he wanted to play the game as long as Brown did, Metcalf started to really study the topic.
Ultimately, this led to a partnership with recovery and wellness technology company Therabody. “I learned the importance of being at the top of my game, and I have invested in Therabody because they share the same beliefs that everyone should get there,” Metcalf wrote on Instagram.
In an interview with CBS Sports, the All-Pro further explained his decision to team up with the Los Angeles, California-based company. “The importance of taking care of my body — physically and mentally — makes me hope everyone can learn that and begin to prioritize it so we can all be our best at what we do and love,” the wide receiver stated.
“Therabody shares in that belief and it is what attracted me to invest in the company. The tools and knowledge I have at my disposal as a professional athlete about taking care of myself should be available to everyone, because everyone has a body, and I am excited to share Therabody’s message and grow with them.”
Metcalf is the third NFL athlete to join Therabody as a brand ambassador, the other two being Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Other Therabody athletes include NBA superstars Paul George and James Harden.
“I think it’s amazing that athletes today have so many more opportunities today to partner with brands on a deeper level and invest, and I am grateful that I was able to join Therabody at such an integral stage of their growth and be part of their journey,” Metcalf told Muscle & Fitness.
“I’ve been able to get to know Dr. Jason [Wersland, founder of Therabody] and the rest of the team recently and I am excited to be part of a company that is so passionate about their mission. I wouldn’t invest in a company I didn’t believe in completely.”
