Eileen Gu uses the Theragun PRO and Theragun mini massage guns, the PowerDot 2.0 Duo muscle stimulator, and the RecoveryAir PRO pneumatic compression boots to enhance her recovery and set herself up for a long-lasting career.
She first came in touch with the Therabody product range during the Winter X Games in 2021, when a personalized Theragun PRO with her name etched onto the side was delivered to her hotel room. “From that moment on, I couldn’t put it down,” Gu told Forbes.
“I took photos with it, showed it to my mom, and dived into all the research to figure out how to target different muscle groups,” the freestyle skier remembers. “It was super fun for me to understand the whole process because I’m a huge nerd. I loved learning all about anatomy and how muscles work.”
After experiencing the benefits of Therabody’s flagship product first hand, the two-time Olympic gold medalist also started implementing the brand’s RecoveryAir PRO pneumatic compression boots and the PowerDot 2.0 Duo muscle stimulator into her recovery routine.
“I use them on the plane; they’re extremely light and portable,” the San Francisco, California-native explains. “You can put them in a purse, and can use them wherever you want as a recovery tool before or after a workout.”
Gu now hopes to use her platform to educate everyday skiers and athletes about the importance of proper recovery and its long-term benefits. “I think there’s a misconception that the average skier doesn’t get tired or doesn’t need to recover,” she says.
“Are you really a skier if you’ve never had a leg burner day on powder in the trees? Or when you’re with your family and you want to race from the top to the bottom? I think that everybody can really benefit from Therabody products, especially when you’re going on a family ski trip.”
